Too often we fall into a routine – doing the same things day in and day out. We become comfortable in our zone and motivation starts to leave us. We become floaters – drifting through life with no real aim or purpose. Nobody wants this, but how do we change it?
Albeit this may be a little late, since we’re in the middle of April, but let us change our lives this year for the better. Take that leap!
Be a little bit more selfish and look after yourself this year. Nobody will love you more than you love yourself. We only have one shot at life and one body – make use of it, look after it and it will look after you. Be happier. Throw out bad habits. Work smarter, not harder. Play more, not less.
Always envied the beautiful photos/dance moves you see? Do that photography/dancing class you’ve always wanted. Want to lose weight or become fitter? Join that fitness club you’ve always noticed on your way to work. Life is a constant whirlwind of busy schedules/meetings or resolving family/work related problems? Take that time off for yourself every Sunday, even if it is just an hour, to unwind and relax before the next hectic week starts. Always wanted to open up that business and work for yourself? What are you waiting for?
Still think you are not ready? Nobody is ever 100% ready for anything and opportunities don’t come around very often so Take. That. Leap.
Take baby steps if you’re afraid – change has to start from somewhere. As long as you acknowledge it and accept it, you are half way there already. Become proactive rather than reactive. Set yourself short term goals – for a week, a fortnight, a month, mid-year, till the end of the year and strive to reach for it.
What have you started doing this year that will change your life for the better? Better yet, what will you do this year to make yourself a happier you?

I was writing as I was thinking of myself – that’s why I have started taking salsa classes
and am thinking about doing photography as soon as I have the time and money – so hopefully in a couple of months!
Yes, sometimes it’s not easy – Life isn’t easy. We just have to make the best of the cards we were dealt with.
Baby steps, and you can do it

I’m actually past the age where I worry about life and what is in store for me. Work or obligations usually is the culprit why I forget or put on hold the things I love to do. Yep! Baby steps. It’s what I’m doing now. Hey! I’m also saving up since I really want to travel and practice photography. I used to paint but I’ve outgrown it. Good luck to the both of us eh?! We will get there.
